Preferred Experience

Relevant experience in payload / avionics / systems integration

Strong understanding of:

  • Communication protocols

  • Sensor systems

  • UAV integration

Experience with EMI/EMC compatibility and environmental standards (DO-160, MIL-STD)

Exposure to UAV mission payloads (EO/IR cameras, LiDAR, hyperspectral sensors)

Certification Awareness: Familiarity with aerospace qualification standards (DO-160, MIL-STD-810, CS-UAS)

Reliability Engineering: Knowledge of payload survivability, redundancy, and fault-tolerant design

Innovation: Exposure to emerging payload technologies (AI-enabled sensors, modular payload bays)

Leadership: Ability to mentor junior engineers and lead supplier/vendor discussions

Required Skill Sets & Tools
  • Network Tools: Wireshark (diagnostics and debugging)
  • API Testing: Postman (API/SDK integration)
  • Video Tools: GStreamer (video/data stream validation)
  • CAD Tools (Mechanical Coordination): Siemens NX, SolidWorks
Qualifications

Bachelor’s / Master’s in Electronics / Aerospace / Mechatronics Engineering

Key Responsibility Areas
  • System Integration & Interfaces
    • Develop and review Interface Control Documents (ICD)
    • Integrate payloads using GigE, HD-SDI, RS-422, CAN / Ethernet protocols
    • Ensure robust hardware-software interface integration
  • Feasibility & System Design
    • Conduct payload feasibility studies and trade-off analysis
    • Perform thermal and power budget analysis
    • Optimize payload integration for size, weight, and power (SWaP)
  • Software & Data Integration
    • Collaborate with software teams for API/SDK integration using Postman
    • Debug network/data issues using Wireshark
    • Validate video/data streams for mission performance
  • Testing & Validation
    • Execute ground and flight tests for payload systems
    • Validate mission payload performance under operational conditions
    • Ensure EMI/EMC compatibility and survivability
  • Mechanical & Dynamic Integration
    • Review gimbal kinematics and stabilization
    • Ensure proper vibration isolation and mounting
    • Coordinate with mechanical teams using Siemens NX / SolidWorks
