- Aerodynamic Analysis & Design
- Perform 2D/3D aerodynamic analysis for airfoils, wings, and full aircraft configurations
- Generate lift, drag, and moment characteristics across flight envelope
- Conduct airfoil selection and customization using XFOIL / XFLR5
- Support wing sizing and configuration trade studies
- CFD Simulation
- Set up and run steady and unsteady CFD simulations using ANSYS Fluent / Siemens Star-CCM+ / OpenFOAM
- Develop meshing strategies (boundary layer, y⁺ control, grid independence)
- Apply turbulence models (k-ω SST, URANS; LES exposure preferred)
- Extract forces, moments, Cp distributions, and flow features
- Specialized Aerodynamic Studies
- Analyze propeller–airframe interaction and rotor downwash effects
- Evaluate wake interactions and interference aerodynamics (VTOL transition effects preferred)
- Track centre of pressure movement and its impact on stability
- Support thermal CFD studies (battery/ESS airflow impact)
- Pre- & Post-Processing
- Perform CAD clean-up and geometry preparation using SolidWorks / Siemens NX
- Generate high-quality meshes using Pointwise / ANSA
- Conduct post-processing (contours, streamlines, aerodynamic coefficients)
- Testing & Validation
- Support wind tunnel model preparation and testing
- Correlate CFD results with experimental data
- Contribute to aerodynamic databases for performance models
